Clinical and Ethical Scenario Questions
You may be asked to answer a clinical or ethical scenario as part of the written literacy test.
When answering these questions, our top tips are:
Read the scenario carefully, highlighting the key clues.
Detail the approach you would take step by step, giving reasons for each action.
Outline the care plan you would provide, how you would implement it and how you would evaluate
Mention how you would use your communication skills when talking to the patient and their family
The Code of Standards mentions keeping clear and accurate records relevant to your practice, so you must detail how you would document everything, including the action you took.
Use the resources around you. If the scenario leads you to a point where the patient becomes urgent, you must inform and involve senior staff. Do not overstep your position or complete procedures you are not yet qualified for.
