Preparing for Your Next Healthcare Job Interview: Expert Tips from Limitless Nurses

At Limitless Nurses, we offer mock interviews as part of our support to ensure the professionals we support become more confident and more relaxed in the interview process. Interview anxiety could be holding them back in the actual interview experience. Mock interviews are an effective way to reduce stress levels and strengthen skills.

Giving yourself time and space to rehearse your performance and receive feedback while the stakes are low is a good strategy for improved performance on the day. However, we encourage that to maximise results; professionals need to take them as seriously as they would the real thing.

Investing time in this aspect of the preparations and doing well at the interview gives you more options and control over your career. Try these strategies for making a positive impression.

Our 7 tips to help you prepare for your Mock interview

Evaluate your strengths and weaknesses: Use your time wisely by focusing on the development areas that are most relevant to you. Reflect on the feedback you've received from others in your past interviews. Feedback is data that you need to review and apply to your next interview.

Prepare for the correct format:  Know what format the interview is taking on the day. Is it an in-person interview, Zoom call, or Teams call? Understand and mirror the organisation's arrangements if you're preparing for a specific format.

Select your mock interview partner: Following one of our sessions, we encourage you to pick someone patient and whom you can trust to give you honest feedback. It can be a fellow professional in the membership or ask a family member or friend. Ensure your interview partner has all the information and specific details about the job summary, relevant background information, and any relevant links to help them help you effectively and give appropriate feedback.

Do it independently: It helps to have that moral support and someone cheering you on and giving you constructive feedback. However, you can also practice independently. Find a quiet spot, and watch yourself in a mirror. Teams or Zoom.

Write down the questions you want to ask at the end: Interviews are two-way conversations. Have a list of questions you want to ask when it's your turn. Design them to show that you're a highly qualified candidate and want to learn more about the position.

Dress appropriately, even for the mock interview: We encourage you to wear business attire for healthcare interviews instead of work uniforms. Wear something that makes you feel confident. It will help you to feel more professional.

Have positive thoughts: Remember to engage in an activity, no matter how small, that makes you feel relaxed and puts you in a happy mood before the mock interview. Remember to breathe!

Following these tips will help you to walk into your next job interview prepared to impress the hiring team. Use mock interviews to boost your skills and confidence and advance your career.
